Indonesia’s island of Bali is busy with festivities in May and June, which offers a very good opportunity to visit the island during this period.
In May, the annual Usaba Sambah Festival, which takes place in the walled village of Tenganan Dauh Tukad, is a must for cultural lovers. Also called Bali’s “fighting festival”, it of course features mock fights and downright brutal combat, but you’ll also find traditional music, performance, comedy, and romance. Tenganan is one of the island’s most ancient villages and hosts some of Bali’s oldest ceremonies and rites.
Usually taking place from mid-June to mid-July, the Bali Arts Festival is a unique extravaganza of various cultural performances and art installations celebrating Balinese culture with pride and passion. The festival brings a vibrant atmosphere all across the island as both locals and visitors alike take part in these authentic celebrations of the rich heritage of this unique Indonesian island.
Usaba Sambah and Bali Arts Festival are comprised of a number of other highly entertaining events packed into one month.
