K11 MUSEA Welcomes Its First Chinese New Year with Artisanal Red Packets, a Cheongsam Heritage Exhibition and Experiential Workshops Blessings and knowledge are combined for family and friends at the Silicon Valley of Culture

(Hong Kong, 20 January 2020) A new decade represents the beginning of a new era. At K11 MUSEA, the cultural-retail destination’s first ever Chinese New Year will be celebrated with blessings and knowledge, brought to life through the introduction of an exclusive Red Packet, a Cheongsam Heritage Exhibition showcasing Chinese arts and craftsmanship, as well as a series of culinary and wellness workshops – all coming together with the goal of enriching consumers’ daily lives through culture for the start of the year.

K11 MUSEA Red Packet: a highly limited edition collectable

New Year blessings are more memorable if they are presented in a one-of-a-kind red packet. Intricately designed, the artisanal red packet of K11 MUSEA comes in four shades of red and reflects the alluring design motif featured at K11 MUSEA, Hong Kong’s Silicon Valley of Culture. Much like a heraldic family crest, the beautiful MUSEA motif celebrates the prosperity and exoticism of the Silk Road; a nod to the city’s rich heritage upon which K11 MUSEA is built.

To bring up the Chinese festive ambiance, a Lion Dance Parade will also be presented from noon onwards on 30 January from the Main Entrance at Salisbury Road to various locations at K11 MUSEA.

Cheongsam Heritage Exhibition: A Touch of Disappearing Craft

As Hong Kong’s Silicon Valley of Culture, K11 MUSEA meticulously selected exquisite vintage Cheongsams and tailoring tools for exhibit at the Experience Chamber, First Floor. Work includes those by Master Yan Ka Man, who has been making Cheongsams for over 60 years with many iconic designs on display during Miss Hong Kong Pageants every year, as well as the popular styles that were often seen on celebrities in the 1960s.

Continuing K11 MUSEA’s mission to propagate culture, a live demonstration will be hosted every Saturday, from 11 January-29 February, where local specialist Cheongsam tailor Yin Kou Zhang will demonstrate his artistry for the public on the essential steps of making a perfect Cheongsam by hand sewing. Come experience the craftsmanship of this rich and vibrant artistic tradition by joining the hauniu (flower buttons) workshop held after the demonstration session.
