Michelin Guide announced on May 15th that his 2019 Bangkok edition will be expanded to Phuket and Phang Nga.
The Michelin Guide Bangkok, Phuket and Phang Nga 2019 will be released at the end of this year, in the same bilingual Thai and English format and in both print and digital versions, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said in a statement.
“Along with Bangkok, Phuket and Phang Nga are another two fantastic gastronomic destinations in Thailand and it’s only natural the 2019 Michelin Guide be expanded to cover all three. Gastronomy tourism is a main element of our latest Amazing Thailand’s ‘Open to the New Shades’ communication concept and we are thrilled to have such a respected benchmark as Michelin to help us promote Thailand as a world-class dining destination”, said TAT Governor, Yuthasak Supasorn.
The TAT didn’t miss to remind us that, thanks to its signature foods and diverse eating culture, Phuket became in 2015 the first city in the ASEAN region on the UNESCO Creative Cities listing for its gastronomic delights.
In December 2017, Michelin unveiled the first selection for the Michelin Guide Bangkok, featuring 98 restaurants, from international dining to the authentic Thai cuisine. 17 restaurants were recognized by the famous French culinary guide from high-end establishments to a street food restaurant.
There is no doubt that the Michelin Guide Bangkok, Phuket and Phang Nga 2019 will offer a wealth of information on the vast and varied culinary attractions and activities these destinations offer.
