Soran Bushi Performance

Soran Bushi is a Japanese folk song of the fisherman of Hokkaido’s Oshima Peninsula, which includes a dance to express how actual fishing takes place on Oshima’s classic boats.

Our famed Kimono Ambassador team of the Hotel Okura Macau will perform the Soran Bushi as a treat on this coming New Year’s Day! Come to hear the powerfully-spirited shouts of the dance which creates a feeling of unity with the performers and audience. And, there will also be the thrill of dancing with the team and the people around you.

Whether you are an experienced Soran Bushi dancer from Hokkaido or a beginner learning about this dance for the very first time, this event will be great fun for all. Please join us for this festive event!

Japanese Traditional Mochitsuki Event

Date: 1st January 2018

Time: 15:00 hours

Venue: Hotel Okura Macau main lobby

Mochitsuki is an annual Japanese custom that is an essential part of Japan’s “Oshogatsu” or New Year’s celebration. This custom ensures a happy New Year to come!

Mochitsuki is made by the pounding of mochi or rice cakes, and requires many hands, long hours, and physical labor. But, it is also a time of fellowship and socializing with friends and family.

Every year, the Hotel Okura Macau Management and staff organizes the Okura’s Mochitsuki event over New Years in our hotel’s main lobby. Everyone is welcome to join us for this fun! There will be a chance for you to pound mochi, including swinging the customary large kine and mallet, while enjoying a full complement of Japanese New Year performances.

Origami Crane Session

Date: 1st January 2018

Time: 15:30-17:00 hours

Venue: Hotel Okura Macau main lobby

For thousands of years the Japanese culture has treasured the origami crane as a symbol of good health, happiness, peace and longevity. The bird is strong, graceful and beautiful – the Japanese people believed that a person who folds 1,000 cranes will be granted his or her greatest wish.

At Hotel Okura Macau, Origami Cranes are personally handmade by all of our staff members to give it to our guests a warm and deep-felt welcome. We place them on their pillows, wishing them a wonderful rest and blissful sleep.
