Singapore is festive and lit up in August, starting with the National day on August 9 which marks the city-state’s colourful rise to independence and beyond.
A stunning day of multi-cultural song-and-dance performances, aerial flybys and military parades capped by a breathtaking firework on Marina Bay.
Then, on 17 and 25 August, the Singapore Night Festival (SNF) will show the city’s heritage, arts and culture in a different light, transforming the Bras Basah/Bugis heritage precinct into a midsummer’s celebration of sorts. Lots of events will be held late into the night at different cultural institutions, along with various street and music performances by local and international artists. The highlight of the festival surely is the interactive light installations that turn the facades of the Singapore Art Museum and the National Museum of Singapore into ephemeral works of wonder.
